How to dress for photos

Comfort and Confidence

Dressing your family for photos! It can be a bit daunting right? What if you are uncomfortable? What if the clothes get ruined? Should we all match? Well, I am here to alleviate some concerns.

1. Don't have everyone wear the exact same color. When everyone shows up wearing the exact same shade of blue, it can come off looking like a corporate party. Instead, pick a color scheme (go onto pinterest and look up color schemes if you need ideas). Going with a color scheme will provide you with more options in both feminine and masculine colors. It will also add a little bit of dimension to the photos. Also, take into consideration where you are taking the photos as well.

2. Don't stress about looking perfect, some of the best photos are the candid ones where everyone is truly enjoying each others company. If you get a stain on your clothes, remember a photographer can take that stain out in post processing. I had a family that got caught in the rain, I had to remove a lot of raindrops from their shirts. Don't sweat the small stuff. Just have fun!

3. Choose something that makes you feel confident and make sure it's as comfortable as possible. Photographers can do amazing things with photos. But, if you are not feeling like you look your best, you aren't going to show confidence in your photos and chances are you will only remember that you didn't feel good.

4. Make some memories with your photos. Looking back at a posed photo, there is no memory attached. Photography is an experience now, go have fun and let your photographer catch you in your happiest state. It's ok to tell jokes and have fun.
